I feel this! It is so hard to let go of that internal pressure to perform and peering over at everyone else’s metrics as a measurement of where we should be. Substack is an interesting place. I have one stream of folks that pop up in my feed who grapple openly with rejecting old ideas so we can live more freely. And then another stream who is trying to push me to grow more on here with their coaching services. I need a delicate balance of this, but it is hard to achieve!

Loved reading this, friend! Just speaking from my own experience, I struggled with this more when I was working still and I think part of it is a scarcity response. You have to guard and protect the thing you’re building that much more because you’re still dealing with all the parts you want to be different in your 9-5. Like there’s less tolerance? Or it just feels more sacred or something. I’m still mulling this one over and connecting it back to time scarcity, but these are some early musings about it if at all helpful in thinking about what’s driving that for you.
